The Inspiration Behind Elevating 8
The vision for Elevating 8 was my life; where empathy and a love for acts of service collided with an inescapable journey of deep healing, vulnerability and self-empowerment.
These moments redefined the love that I give to others and more importantly, the love I give to myself.
Allowing myself to take up space became a propellant for my ability to help support others as they heal and regain control of their life.
Elevating 8 is the product of everything I have learned through my journey: my life experience, my coaching career, my human services work and my education.
As a child my response to the "what do you want to do" question was always to be happy. I never believed in assigning a specific career to my future goals, as I thought that in many ways it was limiting.
I went on to obtain my undergraduate education was in Psychology, Political Science, Theology, Anthropology and Addiction Studies. Even prior to graduation, I had dedicated myself to these fields.
My professional background in the human services field includes national certifications and passionate work in Law Enforcement, Trauma Informed Care, Crisis Intervention, Emergency Response, Mental Health, Addiction and Human Trafficking.
My professional background in the athletic coaching field began when I was 14 years old and from there, I held on to the development of physical fitness and mental fitness for myself and others as a passion.
As a coach, I prioritized my athletes' psychological development over their physical abilities. I found they achieved more success this way, as their victories came as a byproduct of their awareness of their own developmental potential.
As a mentor to the high-risk youth, of a detention center I worked in and of a city that I gave my heart to patrol, I came to know too many kids desperately in need of a safe kind of self-empowerment.
As the surviving sister of a sex-trafficked, abused and ashamed heroin addict, I came to see how many adults walk among us injured in ways that can only be healed by hope and self-love.
As the daughter of a woman who was able to prevail over many should-have-been incapacitating physical injuries through her own development of mental resilience until weariness triumphed, I learn to recognize the power of the mind.
As a human being recovering from years of trauma, loss, grief, and layers of heavy expectations, toxic socialization, and complex PTSD, I fought to make it through the hard days and redefine life, with the support of a coach who helped me feel secure enough to begin the journey of undoing and rebuilding in a safe place.
After moving to California and leaving behind a career of chaos and resolution all in one, I began to find myself exploring ways to pursue what I believe to be my purpose and continue to live out my passions. After taking time to step away from the pressures of helping others, and making time to intentionally heal myself, the idea of Elevating 8 finally came together in my mind.
It has been my lifelong dream to professionally combine my coaching career and my passion for helping the most vulnerable populations, specifically those in trauma recovery.
As the owner of Elevating 8, my goal is to provide life enhancing services, within my scope of expertise, to those who choose to invest in themselves.
